Lisa

Hobbit | 6/14/2006 Wed June 14, 2006 @ 3:06 pm

Well just thought I would update ya all on how little Lisa is doing. She is doing GREAT! Growing up and just plain being CUTE!!! She has in the last few days started “baby talking” she tries so hard to make sounds like “ah” or “eh.” She just talks away. She loves it when you talk to her, especially when the phone talks to her. I put the phone on speaker phone and then put the phone on her tummy and she just smiles at it, grabs at it, and talks to who ever is on the phone.

Another new trick of hers is to grab things. She has gotten pretty good at this one. She grabs my necklace, I think she does it just to give herself more stability. Anyways she loves grabbing on to toys, and likes to hold on to anything she can. It seems to soothe her (not that she really needs soothing) to have something to hold on to. She will grab her clothes if nothing is obtainable near by.

She is getting close to being mobile. At least she has started using her legs and butt to move around on me or on the ground. In the mornings I go in to wake her up, and she is in the corner of her crib, not the middle where I put her. So she moves about some how. So it won’t be long and we will have to lock the house down!

Fun times!!!

TMI updates

Hobbit | 6/11/2006 Sun June 11, 2006 @ 7:55 pm

Well the Hobba-dairy has gotten the picture after a week and is drying up. No more getting hard, no more need for pumping. Only a matter of time before nothing will come out and then I can wear regular bras again, whoo hoo…

There are a couple of new pictures up.

To breastfeed or not to breastfeed…

Hobbit | 6/5/2006 Mon June 5, 2006 @ 10:21 am

…That has become the question. And finally I think the health benefits to me for stopping breastfeeding out weigh the benefits to Lisa for me to continue. It was truly a hard decision to make, I wanted to breastfeed for a year, so Lisa didn’t have to have formula. But my body is completely saying NO. In the last week or so my restless legs have returned with a vengeance. They are not happy, and I am not happy because I am not sleeping once again, it has truly gone back to the way it was before I went to the Dr. for my sleep issues. On top of that my body doesn’t know how to process the foods it is getting. I have gone back to my low glycemic index diet, but with breastfeeding I am constantly hungry, and my body is making milk and storing fat and not giving me the energy I need. So I need to go back on my medicines, and be able to cut down on my food intake (something I am fearful of doing now with breastfeeding). At least I saved us from having to buy formula for 3 and a half months… On the bright side I have enough breastmilk in the freezer that Lisa will probably still be getting breastmilk for another month or so, since I plan on slowly moving her over to formula.

Arkansas and the “Water”

Hobbit | 5/25/2006 Thu May 25, 2006 @ 8:36 am

This past weekend we all loaded up and headed to Arkansas to have Lisa baptized. That was a lot of fun. We made the drive safe and sound in one day down there, actually got there around 3 in the afternoon. Then Mom and I headed to Walmart to pick up sandwiches and a cake for the after baptism party.

Saturday we all had yummy breakfast, then loaded up the car and drove to Morrilton to have Lisa baptized. We got there a bit early so we just hung out with the priest and Lisa ate some. Then once everyone showed up we got things rolling. Lisa was a perfect angel (isn’t she always), right up until Fr. Charles poured the water on her head. It was even warm water, but she did NOT like it, so she screamed, but as soon as he stopped with the water, she stopped with the screaming and went to being a quiet non-fussy baby!

Then we headed back to the lake for a Par-tay. Lisa had a swim suit so I took her swimming… The water was ummm… well chilly, so she wasn’t into the swimming, but since she had had an accident in her suit on the way to the water, I dunked her at least up to her bum, so I could rinse her off a bit. She really wailed after that. But as soon as she was in a towel and bundled up by Big Lisa she was happy.

On Sunday David’s son Cody came up, and so Lisa and Cody, and Cody’s half-brother Dillan fed the fishies. They were as big as Lisa!!! I had to wake her up to feed them, but she did stay awake and at least watch the giant fishies.

On Monday we drove back to Missouri, got here around 4:30 or 5 I think. Lisa did good on the return trip, right up until Jefferson City, which is about 30 minutes south of Columbia… She started wailing, she wanted food, and she wanted outta her car seat! We managed to make it home though, and the she ate and was happy again!

Lots and Lots of pictures

Tennessee

Hobbit | 5/7/2006 Sun May 7, 2006 @ 4:07 pm

Well this post took a little while, because I left my camera in Tennessee, oops! But there are pictures up now!

Dan, Lisa, and I took a trip to Tennessee the end of April. The trip there was a bit rough. Lisa got her first round of immunizations the morning we left. And to top that off she is starting to teethe, a bit early but still doing it. So with the weirdness that the shots caused and the teething, you would think someone had cut her leg off… The only thing we could do to calm her down while the Tylenol was getting into her system was to rub her gums where the teeth are coming in. Which as you can imagine is hard to do while driving down the road…

Thursday went a lot better, although she was awake the whole time she wasn’t hurting anymore. Dan gave Lisa his Snoopy doll (its like 25 + years old). She just grabbed a hold of it, and Dan said “Ok, Snoopy is now yours.”

Friday Dan finished a paper he had to write for school. Saturday we did a bit of shopping. Then on Sunday we went to church with Dan’s mom. The preacher called Lisa a boy, cause he got confused at one point. Through out church Nancy sat next to Lisa poking at her, trying to get her to wake up so she could hold her, but Lisa just slept right on through the whole service.

Then it was off to lunch at Mamaw and Papaw’s. Yummy tasty food, and a birthday cake for me! YAY! Lisa got passed between so many family members in the two hours we were there, you would think she was a million dollars that everyone just had to touch!

After lunch we packed up the car, and headed to Knoxville. We went to J23 for 5:30 mass. Lisa was quiet through church for the second time, although she was eating this time. Then after mass we went to P.F. Changs for dinner with Carey, Jesse, Nina and Nina’s boyfriend. Then we headed back towards MO.

Other news. Lisa is up to 10 pounds now!

Me- I had a reaction to the sugar in the birthday cake at Mamaw and Papaw’s, and then again after eating cake from Chili’s for my birthday. So I went to the Dr. to see about going back on my medication. We are doing some blood work, then going to figure out from there what to do. Weigh the options of metformin or breastfeeding, or to see if there is some other problem that is the problem. fun fun!!!
