Visitors
Sun March 19, 2006 @ 7:30 pmCarey came and visited this weekend. That was great!!! Makes me miss Knoxville and Tennessee even more, oh well soon enough we will be back there.
Lisa had a baby shower this weekend as well. It was a book shower (what do you expect from a bunch of librarians…) It was a blast, and we got a lot of books for Lisa. I actually read her every one of them this morning, since she was wide awake and I had nothing else to do, while everyone else was still sleeping. One of the coolest gifts we got from the shower was a hand made blanket, that has burritos and other various foods on it. When Lisa is swaddled we call her burrito, cause she looks like a baby burrito. Now she has a burrito blanket! How cool is that! So personal, I love it!

Ultrasound
Fri March 17, 2006 @ 12:58 pmWell Lisa went for her Ultrasound yesterday. It was normal, no pyloric stenosis, which is good, means no surgery. Now we just gotta figure out what is causing the vomiting. May be reflux, may be just normal for Lisa. What ever it may be, hopefully she grows out of it soon, the washing machine runs at least once a day.

Lisa update
Fri March 10, 2006 @ 12:41 pmWell I have been waiting to write this post, hoping to have some good news, and or news at all, but it just isn’t coming, so here I go.
Lisa is a bit sick. She has been forcefully projectile vomiting for about a week now, it keeps getting worse and worse, and more frequent. So we called the Dr. on Wednesday. The Dr. said to wait and see how it got, because she was still pooping and peeing normally, so she was hydrated. Lisa vomited while I had the Dr. on speaker phone, and she was able to hear the velocity at which Lisa’s lunch left her stomach. She seemed a bit more worried on the phone, and said we really needed to watch this because it could be a disorder that babies some times get called Pyloric Stenosis.
So that night she seemed to do better, only vomited up her 6:30 pm feeding, and then didn’t vomit again for almost 24 hours. But she started getting lethargic that night. She was extra sleepy, wanted to eat more often (although she ate poorly), and had fewer wet and poopy diapers than she has had. So we called the Dr. Thursday morning, and went in to see the Dr. to make sure she wasn’t dehydrated, and that she was gaining weight. Weight was ok, gained 4 ounces in 6 days. She looked and sounded ok to the Dr., but she sent us to the hospital to have blood work drawn to make sure that Lisa wasn’t fighting some infection that we were missing. (That was fun, never heard my baby cry so much in her life, granted she has only been alive 2 weeks and a day at that point). The Dr. called back that night with her results, and it all came back normal, no infection and no dehydration. So still wait and see, although Lisa was starting to get fussy (and shes NOT a fussy baby). So told the Dr. this, too. Said to call Friday with an update on how she did over night.
So Friday night, wow, Lisa vomited at her 5:30pm, 10:30 pm, 1:30 am, 4:30 am, and her 9:30 am feedings, that was the most they have been clustered together. Three feedings in a row with vomiting, and then the 9:30 feeding, wow, that was a major eruption, she just kept vomiting. It was scary for me, so we called the Dr. back, and are now waiting to hear back from the Dr. We might be going to get an ultrasound to see if she has the Pyloric Stenosis, or the Dr. might have some other option for us to try. Lisa is currently sleeping in just a diaper and two receiving blankets because she vomited on every piece of clean clothing we have for her (that fits). She is still pretty fussy.
Hopefully we will get this all cleared up soon.

Lisa and Me
Sun March 5, 2006 @ 5:55 pmMy site has been down for a few days, and I haven’t had the chance to post anything.
Lisa is doing great. She gained all the weight she lost back (babies lose between 5 and 9 % of their birth weight in the first 5 days of life, then start gaining it back). Usually by 2 weeks they have gained all the weight they lost back, but Miss Lisa gained all hers back already, and was at 6 pounds 12 ounces, at her Dr. appt on Friday. This means she is eating well, (yay, a relief for me). Still working on sleeping good at night, she sleeps really good during the day, but not quite as good at night, but we are working on it, and she is doing a lot better.
I am doing good myself, I get better every day. My mom and dad left today, so now it is time to settle into a routine with my new family. I am able to do that better now, I can actually do things. I wasn’t in too much pain post birth, but there was enough muscle tenderness to make moving around a bit uncomfortable for a while.
We will keep posting pictures as we take them.
