Well I have been waiting to write this post, hoping to have some good news, and or news at all, but it just isn’t coming, so here I go.
Lisa is a bit sick. She has been forcefully projectile vomiting for about a week now, it keeps getting worse and worse, and more frequent. So we called the Dr. on Wednesday. The Dr. said to wait and see how it got, because she was still pooping and peeing normally, so she was hydrated. Lisa vomited while I had the Dr. on speaker phone, and she was able to hear the velocity at which Lisa’s lunch left her stomach. She seemed a bit more worried on the phone, and said we really needed to watch this because it could be a disorder that babies some times get called Pyloric Stenosis.
So that night she seemed to do better, only vomited up her 6:30 pm feeding, and then didn’t vomit again for almost 24 hours. But she started getting lethargic that night. She was extra sleepy, wanted to eat more often (although she ate poorly), and had fewer wet and poopy diapers than she has had. So we called the Dr. Thursday morning, and went in to see the Dr. to make sure she wasn’t dehydrated, and that she was gaining weight. Weight was ok, gained 4 ounces in 6 days. She looked and sounded ok to the Dr., but she sent us to the hospital to have blood work drawn to make sure that Lisa wasn’t fighting some infection that we were missing. (That was fun, never heard my baby cry so much in her life, granted she has only been alive 2 weeks and a day at that point). The Dr. called back that night with her results, and it all came back normal, no infection and no dehydration. So still wait and see, although Lisa was starting to get fussy (and shes NOT a fussy baby). So told the Dr. this, too. Said to call Friday with an update on how she did over night.
So Friday night, wow, Lisa vomited at her 5:30pm, 10:30 pm, 1:30 am, 4:30 am, and her 9:30 am feedings, that was the most they have been clustered together. Three feedings in a row with vomiting, and then the 9:30 feeding, wow, that was a major eruption, she just kept vomiting. It was scary for me, so we called the Dr. back, and are now waiting to hear back from the Dr. We might be going to get an ultrasound to see if she has the Pyloric Stenosis, or the Dr. might have some other option for us to try. Lisa is currently sleeping in just a diaper and two receiving blankets because she vomited on every piece of clean clothing we have for her (that fits). She is still pretty fussy.
Hopefully we will get this all cleared up soon.
