Baby update

Hobbit | 2/16/2006 Thu February 16, 2006 @ 11:07 am

Some baby stuffs.

Went to the Dr. on Monday, found out I am 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced, so yay things are moving along there. The bad news was I had gained 8 pounds in a week! I was like WHOA, but the Dr. and the nurse both think its just swelling. The Dr. was worried it might be bad swelling (like preeclampsia) so I get to go back to the Dr. today to get my blood pressure checked again, just to make sure. But the swelling (and there was A LOT of it) was probably due to all the time I spent in the hospital sitting with Dan and not being able to prop my legs up.

Lisa is considered full term today, she is 37 weeks yay! Only three weeks to go! And we can’t wait!

She is a huge wiggle worm these days, hopefully soon she will calm down and settle into where she needs to be so we can get her outta there! And into her mommy and daddy’s arms!

Some catching up…

Hobbit | Thu February 16, 2006 @ 11:00 am

Well it has been an interesting last few days….

Last Tuesday Dan started feeling really sick, throwing up, fever, the poops, you name it he had it. We thought it was just the stomach flu. But then he started saying his right side hurt quite a bit. So we decided it was in his best interest to go to the ER. Boy were we right. His gall bladder was so inflammed and infected and unhappy that it was close to perforation (read that as VERY BAD). So he went for surgery on Friday to have it removed. He was able to come home from the hospital late Saturday night. Thank goodness, and he has recovered so well at home! Now we just need him 100% or close too it soon as baby is due in three weeks!

There’s an alien in there

Hobbit | 2/3/2006 Fri February 3, 2006 @ 9:11 am

Well it finally happened. Last night I was so super uncomfortable, because little Lisa is packing on the pounds right now, and out growing her current home, quicker than it can grow. In order to find a comfortable spot, I had to sit on the couch, in a very unlady-like position, but at least it brought some comfort, the down side was it also made Miss Lisa decide it would be cool to move all over the place and NOT stop!

Well Dan being the loving thoughtful husband that he is, was rubbing my belly to comfort me, and it actually felt good, the heat of his hand made the uncomfortableness feel way better, so I told him not to stop. He was then like, ok just let me know when to stop. I didn’t want him to get tired, although it felt good, so I told him he could stop. Well the second he pulls his hand away, Lisa kicks. I was like so sorry you should have waited a second longer. Dan feeling miffed by his daughter, stuck his tongue out at her and made a tickle-y gesture towards my belly.

A little later on Lisa was at it again, moving like a mad woman, so I reached over and poked Dan, to show him where to put his hand, and he did. And low and behold, he felt her move! For the first time in this pregnancy (35 weeks yesterday), he felt her move, but I am afraid he was a little worried that maybe he didn’t feel her, that it was in his imagination. Because a few minutes later, he decided to try again, to feel her once more, this time I was watching, and she kicked his hand so hard it moved, (which is slightly painful on my part). But he said, “there was no denying that one, wow there is an alien in there.”

So I am thrilled he has gotten to feel her kick, and felt one of the big ones, that tend even now to make me go, “ooff” when she does them. I think he is happy too that he felt her move, with no way of denying it, his hand moved from her kick!

Weird one happened the other night, while trying to go to sleep, I think she had a full body spasm or something, because it felt like her entire body up and slammed against one side of my uterus. For those who haven’t been pregnant, I would describe it as feeling like a giant size 10 + shoe kicked my belly from the inside out.

Mizzou (con’t)

Hobbit | 2/1/2006 Wed February 1, 2006 @ 8:04 pm

Well Mizzou went back to the vet yesterday, she just didn’t seem right after all her earlier probings. They took X-rays of her chest and abdomen. The chest X-rays came back good, so no pneumonia, but the abdominal X-rays showed gas filled large and small intestines. Which is not good, and could potentially mean there is a blockage (i.e. foreign body) in her intestines. But the X-rays weren’t definitive about it, so she stayed the night at the animal hospital, in the ICU so her vital signs could be monitored, in case she took a turn for the worse.

Then this morning she was fed some Barium, and had another set of X-rays, to watch the progression of the Barium through her system. Turns out the Barium made it just fine through her system, so she has no blockage, yay! So we got to go pick her up this evening, and now we are just monitoring her to see if in the next 24-48 hours she gets back to her “normal” self (like cats are normal…).

The Vet thinks the GI upset could have been caused by the antibiotics (which were stopped yesterday when her chest X-ray came back normal). So potentially that’s what caused it, or it could be that she is a small kitty and they did stick an endoscope down her throat and into her stomach, which could have lead to the GI issues as well. We will not know, and hopefully she will be back to normal in no time!

Interesting fact we found out about her, from her X-rays. One of her kidneys is smaller than the other! The vet said its no big deal since one of them is normal sized, so we shouldn’t ever have problems with it, just a genetic goof that our kitty has!
