Peanut update

Hobbit | 8/26/2005 Fri August 26, 2005 @ 10:22 am

Went for a diagnostic ultrasound today, to determine if the baby has any chromosomal abnormalities, like downs syndrome, from measurements of things. Well baby is perfect and normal in every way. It took about 20 minutes to get the neck measurement, because Peanut prefers the head down position which was very difficult to get the measurement. I had to get up and walk around the room, to try and shake Peanut into a better position. But we finally got it. Listened to the heart beat too, which was beautiful and normal as well. It was a great visit, seeing our child, watching the heart beat, and seeing the baby wiggle all over the place is a feeling you just can’t describe, unless you have been there!

New pictures can be seen here!

Breast Mass results…

Hobbit | 8/15/2005 Mon August 15, 2005 @ 2:51 pm

Turns out to be nothing, just normal fibroidal tissue, that actually formed a ridge, but that’s normal in pregnancy, so my 8:00am visit to the hospital… good to know nothing is wrong, but tooo EARLY!!!

Its Official! We are Pregnant!!!

Hobbit | 8/10/2005 Wed August 10, 2005 @ 8:31 pm

Dan and I would like to announce our pregnancy! I am ten weeks, (for those doing the math, you aren’t really pregnant the first two weeks, so baby was conceived on the honeymoon). We went to the OB today, and had an ultrasound. So we got the first picture of who Dan and I have deemed Peanut. We will find out the sex of the baby on November 7th. So it shall be peanut for a while. The baby looked like a little peanut with flailing arms and legs on the ultrasound. Even after two home tests, and a test at the doctors office, it wasn’t until Dan saw Peanut on the screen that he said, yup we are pregnant, there is a baby in there. Silly boy!

My next doctors appointment is September 12th. I am on a waiting list for a prenatal screening ultrasound. (to tell if the baby has downs syndrome, but that won’t be for another 2-4 weeks) Then I have another appointment on October 10th, and then the big ultrasound that takes an hour, to find all the good stuff like sex and ten fingers and ten toes and what not, is scheduled for November 7th. Fun fun fun!

On a side note, I have a mass in my breast that the doctor is a little worried about, but doesn’t think its cancerous, so I am going on Monday for an ultrasound to determine if its anything that needs to be worried about. (its long and cylindrical, not round and massy like cancer tends to be.)

In the picture, the top arrow is pointing in the general direction of Peanut. He or she was oriented in a head down position, and in this picture you can’t see the head. The lower arrow points to the general area of a bright white line, in the motion on the screen that white line was the baby’s hand moving.

Sleep has returned

Hobbit | 8/3/2005 Wed August 3, 2005 @ 9:10 am

Not sure how or why, but my sleep has returned, no medicine and I don’t do anything at night to make the legs stop, but they have decided to let me sleep! Yay.

The weather in Columbia has returned to astronomically hot, it sucks. Give me the mountains and hills, and all I really want right now is RAIN. We haven’t had any…
